Head Coach Devan Walker

Devan is in his first yimageear with the BruceBarbell staff. He is a Baton Rouge native and former Catholic High School graduate (’08) where he played basketball and football under Coach Dale Weiner. Coach Walker graduated from Southeastern Louisiana University in 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Technology. At Southeastern, he was a full scholarship student athlete who played outside linebacker and lettered all four years. He finished 3rd all time for sacks in team history, 2nd all time in tackles for loss, and 2nd Team All Southland Conference. He signed a free agent contract with the San Diego Chargers in May of 2013 and with the Kansas City Chiefs in August of 2014. He later finished the 2014 season in the Canadian Football League (CFL), where he played defensive end for the Ottawa Redblacks. He is currently rehabbing a torn ACL which he suffered this off season.

Coach Walker is a volunteer assistant with BruceBarbell and Conditioning staff under the direction of Gayle Hatch protégé, Matt Bruce. Walker also trained and assisted BruceBarbell with their Speed and Conditioning program for the NFL and led prospective athletes through agility and speed evaluations. Devan has quality training experience where he has trained under some of the most well respected names in the sport including Gayle Hatch, Kurt Hester, and Matt Bruce. Devan is currently seeking his national certification in Strength and Conditioning (CSCS) from the National Strength and Conditioning Association, where he is also a member.
